Patryk Skarzynski, who hails from Chicago, is now part of Viper history after being named the winner of the SRT® Viper Color Contest for the submission Competition Blue. That hue will now be part of the 2014 SRT Viper vehicle lineup. Along with having his name forever linked to the Viper, Skarzynski also receives a trip for two to the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona®, the season-opening event for the new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, and a mini speedform of the Competition Blue SRT Viper.

The other finalists in the voting were: Michael Pshenishny, Albany, New York, for his submission Overtaking Blue and Norbert Samuel, Anaheim, California, who entered the name Viral Blue. Both Pshenishny and Samuel receive a mini speedform of the Competition Blue SRT Viper.

“The team was thrilled with the overwhelming response and enthusiasm we received from the SRT fans and owners,” said Mark Trostle, Head of SRT, Mopar® and Motorsports Design. “It was very difficult to narrow it down from over 11,000 submissions. I think we had three great choices that the fans voted on.”

Entries poured in from across the United States. The team at SRT diligently sorted through all of the potential names to determine the final three, which were then voted for online between November 4–11.

“Color names are very important for any vehicle as they help convey the emotion of the color, in particular with the Viper, as it’s such an emotional piece,” said Trostle. “Owners take great pride in the color name of their Viper. It’s part of the bragging rights of owning a Viper or an SRT vehicle.”

A fourth and final Mopar “Top Eliminator” winner for the 2013 edition of the long-running customization and performance vehicle program will be chosen from digital submissions made online by members of its passionate fan community. Mopar aficionados are being encouraged to submit their candidacy by posting photos displaying their skill in modifying or preserving a classic or even modern-day Chrysler Group vehicle on Mopar’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mopar. Their fellow Mopar fans will help select a winner with an online vote that will be held from October 8-17.

Following the overwhelming success and popularity of the event-based program, this is the second year that the Mopar “Top Eliminator” competition has been opened up to include an online segment. Fans can now upload images of their own Moparized ride via the “Top Eliminator” tab on the Mopar Facebook page. Candidates are also being asked to provide a description, along with customization or restoration information regarding what Mopar parts and accessories were used, as well as any story they might like to share about what inspired their project.

Entries for consideration are being welcomed through the first week of October, amongst which ten finalists will be chosen by Mopar’s panel of judges. Members of the brand’s online community, referred to as Mopar nation, will then be able to vote for candidates in order to determine a winner and the recipient of a Mopar “Top Eliminator” trophy and prize package. Last year’s inaugural online winning entry was a 2000 Dodge Dakota R/T pickup owned by Joshua Brack of Ozark, Mo.

Three event-based winners were crowned this summer at Mopar “Top Eliminator” competitions held at the 29th Annual “Mopars in the Park” car show in Farmington, Minn., the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, Pa., and the NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Ind.

A 1964 Plymouth Savoy owned by Miles Watsko of Winnipeg, Manitoba and a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T owned by Bill Mann of Piscataway, N.J. were chosen as the first two winners of the year and showcased in the Mopar display area at renowned Woodward Dream Cruise in suburban Detroit in August.

NHRA Sportsman racer Brent Jones of Wheatland, Ind., had his 2010 “Knox County Driller” Mopar Challenger Drag Pack race car selected as the third Mopar “Top Eliminator” for its dedication to customization and performance on the drag racing track.

Following the fan voting period, the online winner of the “Top Eliminator” program will be announced October 18 via Mopar’s Facebook page.

September 19, 2013 , Auburn Hills, Mich. –  Mopar’s “Top Eliminator” program added the 2010 “Knox County Driller” Mopar Challenger Drag Pak owned by Brent Jones, 41, of Wheatland, Ind., as the third 2013 winner in the long-running customized and performance vehicle program. Competing at the 59th annual NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Jones is the first Mopar-powered Sportsman racer to receive the award that highlights passionate and dedicated Mopar enthusiasts who display unmatched skill in modifying or preserving a classic or modern-day Chrysler Group vehicle.

As a new addition to the program, the third vehicle selection focused on the top rides that raced at the NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway this past Labor Day weekend. Similar to the current “Top Eliminator” criteria, this program expansion honors an entrant’s performance and personal statement brought to life in the vehicle they compete in during race weekends.

Making its debut at Indianapolis, the 2010 “Knox County Driller” Mopar Challenger Drag Pak, finished in NHRA Super Stock racing configuration, sports a Mopar 5.7L HEMI engine and a Chrysler transmission. The build, which took more than two years, includes crushed velvet in the interior, including on the dash, seats, wheel tubs, door panels and floor mats. The custom paint is Pagan Gold and Candy Wine Red, with Gold Leaf HEMI logos on the hood scoop.

“It’s amazing, just a great honor,” said Jones, who also reached the final round of Super Stock H/A class eliminations at Indianapolis. “It was very rewarding, to see all the time and money spent on this project pay off, and in its very first event.”

“It’s a fun car to drive,” added Jones, who was also helped in coordinating the build by his father and co-owner, Donald Jones. “It’s cool to be the first race car recognized as a Mopar ‘Top Eliminator.” I was very surprised; I didn’t expect this at all. I’m going to put the trophy in the office, where everyone can see it.”
Car builder Michael Roth, owner of MR2 Performance, spearheaded the project for Jones, with a total of 4,500 work hours logged to bring the vehicle to life and give it its unique appearance.

“I pride myself in attention to detail,” said Roth. “The crushed velvet on the interior matches with the paint scheme and also provides a 1970s-era Pro Stock vibe.”
The two previous 2013 winners selected as Mopar “Top Eliminator” were Bill Mann’s 1970 Dodge Charger R/T from Piscataway, N.J., chosen at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, and a 1964 Plymouth Savoy owned by Miles Watsko of Winnipeg, Manitoba, selected at ‘Mopars in the Park’ in Farmington, Minn.   This fall, candidates for a fourth Mopar “Top Eliminator” winning vehicle will be selected online allowing aficionados to upload images of their Moparized ride, with a fan vote selecting the best among those submitted and posted.

HOUSTON, TX, September 17, 2013 – Pennzoil is proud to announce April Vaught from Middletown, Kentucky as the lucky grand prize winner of the Pennzoil ‘Four Wheels to Freedom’ sweepstakes that ended on July 31, 2013. Vaught will receive a one of a kind 2013 Challenger SRT8, customized by country music star, Tim McGraw. The vehicle encompasses freedom, expression and acceleration which together represent the foundation of the Pennzoil and Tim McGraw relationship.

“A natural progression in our relationship with McGraw was to bring his love of cars to life for fans and what better way to do that than put him in the driver’s seat to customize an American classic for one lucky consumer,” said Bree Sandlin, Pennzoil Global Brand Manager. “Once completed, the Four Wheels to Freedom vehicle is even more impressive than we could have imagined and beautifully encompasses the passion McGraw and Pennzoil share for the freedom derived from the open road.”

Not without a little hesitation, McGraw gave up the keys to the 2013 Challenger SRT8 to Vaught.

“After putting so much thought into designing the ‘Four Wheels to Freedom’ muscle car, I wanted to be there in person to hand the keys over to the lucky winner,” confessed McGraw. “It’s a powerful machine with nothing but open road in front of it!”

The 2013 Challenger SRT8® is the most powerful in the Challenger line, stocked with launch control, 470 horsepower and acceleration of 0-60 mph in less than 5 seconds. The car is specifically inspired by the album art of McGraw’s latest release, TWO LANES OF FREEDOM, from the stripes on the hood, down to the aqua blue and orange color palate combination for which 23 coats of paint were utilized to perfect the coat! The paint design also uses a two-tone theme which fades as it moves to the rear of the Challenger to convey the feeling of motion.

With the keys in her hand and Tim McGraw by her side, Vaught shared her excitement.

“Winning a car and meeting Tim McGraw is a once in a lifetime deal! I think I’m still in a state of shock and denial,” explained Vaught. “And the car! The car is more than I could have ever dreamed of and the fact that it is customized by Tim McGraw makes it all that much more special to me.”

Vaught was randomly selected as the grand prize winner of the ‘Four Wheels to Freedom’ sweepstakes. Participants were given a chance to enter the sweepstakes from May 1 through July 31 at Pennzoil.com. An additional 40 first place winners received JBL Tim McGraw On Ear Headphones and an additional 50 second place winners received posters from Tim McGraw’s 2013 TWO LANES OF FREEDOM Tour presented by Pennzoil.
