From Dante Giacosa in the mid twentieth century, to the new course undertaken by FIAT Design under the guidance of Roberto Giolito today, “500L, a Fiat Design Approach” traces the brand’s commitment to developing unique automobiles, while continuing the success of Italian design throughout the world.

With original designer’s sketches, this FIAT original publication illustrates the Fiat 500L’s concept development through some of the brand’s most radical and profoundly innovative design elaborations. The book traces the all-new “multi-purpose” vehicle’s styling inspiration through a sequence of previous models, including the historic 1956 Fiat 600 Multipla, 1957 Fiat 500, the 1972 Fiat 127, the 1980 Fiat Panda, the 1983 Fiat Uno and the 1998 Fiat Multipla.

In addition, “500L, a Fiat Design Approach,” highlights the route undertaken with the new Fiat 500 project and how it represented an important phase for the FIAT Brand paving the way for the all-new Fiat 500L – a natural and coherent product extension for the brand.

    About the all-new Fiat 500L
With its Italian design and city-friendly functionality, the all-new Fiat 500L five-passenger model expands the appeal of the brand’s iconic Fiat 500 with even more style and efficiency in the growing B-segment. The Fiat 500L — the L stands for ‘Large’ — will follow the U.S. introduction of the high-performance Fiat 500 Abarth this spring and a full-electric version of the Fiat 500 at the end of 2012. The Fiat 500L will be produced at the FIAT plant in Kragujevac, Serbia, and will arrive in the United States in 2013.

It represents the unique characteristics of the Fiat 500 Abarth as a sensual and strikingly stunning model and takes a peek at what happens the first time a customer encounters the race-ready vehicle. The spot ends with a sexy and edgy message, “The Fiat 500 Abarth. You’ll never forget the first time you see one.”

    • 2012 Jeep® Wrangler named ‘Hottest 4×4 SUV’
    • 2012 Fiat 500 named ‘Hottest Sports Compact Car’
    • More than 30 “Moparized” Vehicles on Display with more than 500 accessories

Auburn Hills, Mich. , Nov 1, 2011 – The results are in. The second annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Award was presented to the 2012 Jeep® Wrangler for the “Hottest 4×4-SUV” and to the 2012 Fiat 500 for the “Hottest Sports Compact Car” this morning at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

The SEMA Award honors vehicles that specialty-equipment manufacturers believe are the best platforms for accessorization and showcase this year’s most unique products. The award recognizes four outstanding vehicle models in four categories – “Hottest Car,” “Hottest Sport Compact Car,” “Hottest Truck,” and “Hottest-4×4-SUV.” Both awards were accepted by Mopar® President and CEO Pietro Gorlier.

“The Jeep Wrangler has an incredible enthusiast following, and with hundreds of Mopar parts and accessories available for it, it is clearly one of our most customized vehicles,” said Gorlier. “And, in just its first year, our new Fiat 500 is prominent throughout this year’s SEMA Show as it is the perfect canvas for customization.”

The “Hottest 4×4-SUV” of this year’s Show is the fourth award the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler has received in the last 10 days. Last week, it captured the prestigious “4×4 of the Year” crown from Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine, the “Mid-size SUV of Texas” award by the Texas Auto Writers Association and “Best Off-Road Value” in the Active Lifestyle Vehicle awards competition.

“With an avid following of enthusiasts, Jeep Wrangler has long been the most customized SUV in the marketplace,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Wrangler owners love to modify their vehicles, often at purchase with dealer-installed Mopar parts, and throughout their ownership experience. For 2012, Jeep Wrangler is an even better customization platform, with more fuel efficiency, power and capability than ever before.”

With beautiful Italian styling, timeless functionality, fuel efficiency and innovative technology – the same attributes that made the original version an icon – the 2012 Fiat 500 is relevant for an entirely new generation of drivers.

“The Fiat 500’s timeless proportions and efficient design make it a perfect platform for customization,” said Olivier Francois, Head of Fiat Brand and Chief Marketing Officer, Chrysler Group. “We are honored by the SEMA Award recognition and excited by the creativity and enthusiasm of our fans and the specialty-equipment manufacturers who continue to make the Cinquecento even more distinctive in the marketplace.”

The 2011 SEMA Show features more than 2,000 exhibiting companies. SEMA Show exhibitors manufacture thousands of products that improve performance, safety and convenience, as well as those that enhance appearance and comfort. While products are available for every make and model vehicle, exhibitors are investing more into the Chevrolet Camaro, the Fiat 500, Ford F-Series, and Jeep Wrangler than any other vehicle. Consumers, therefore, can expect to find more options for accessorizing these vehicles.

    The 2012 Jeep Wrangler
Jeep Wrangler – the most capable and recognized vehicle in the world – becomes even more capable both on- and off-road for 2012, courtesy of an all-new, more fuel efficient and more powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine, and a new five-speed automatic transmission – both of which it shares with the award-winning Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Chrysler Group’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine – winner of the prestigious Ward’s 10 Best Engines award – delivers 285 horsepower (209 kW) and 260 (353 N•m) lb.-ft. of torque, while delivering up to 21 miles per gallon highway in the 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The improvement, when compared to the previous 3.8-liter V-6 engine, is 40 percent in horsepower and 10 percent in torque.

Additionally, for refined shifting and greater performance, the Jeep Wrangler migrates from a four-speed to a new five-speed automatic transmission. The 2012 Jeep Wrangler also features the company’s first application of a manual transmission to the Pentastar V-6.

Jeep continues to refine the successful Wrangler formula by combining legendary, benchmark capability with an interior that delivers rich styling with significantly upgraded touch surfaces, occupant comfort and versatility, and a premium appearance courtesy of a body color hard top for the popular Sahara and Rubicon models.

2012 Jeep Wrangler interior highlights include a recently redesigned instrument panel and storage areas with improved ergonomics and upgraded materials. A lockable console and upgraded door armrest areas boast comfortable touch points, while a redesigned center stack is easier to reach and operate. Heated, power mirrors are available, and drivers and passengers enjoy enhanced visibility courtesy of large rear windows.

And to match this specially appointed Cinquecento, a pair of uniquely designed Fiat 500 Pink Ribbon key fobs provide customers with a personal reminder of the FIAT Brand and BCRF’s partnership to find a cure.

Only 250 Fiat 500 Pink Ribbon limited-edition models will be available at FIAT Studios nationwide in October. The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of the 2012 Fiat 500 Pink Ribbon is $22,500 (including $500 destination). For more information, visit www.fiatusa.com/500PinkRibbon.

Fiat 500 by Gucci Debuts at Fashion’s Night Out in New York https://modernmopar.com/2011/09/10/fiat-500-by-gucci-debuts-at-fashions-night-out-in-new-york/ https://modernmopar.com/2011/09/10/fiat-500-by-gucci-debuts-at-fashions-night-out-in-new-york/#respond Sat, 10 Sep 2011 16:26:40 +0000 http://www.modernmoparmagazine.com/wp/?p=482 September 9, 2011 , New York, NY – Fashionistas, tastemakers, shoppers and car enthusiasts crowded the Gucci store on Fifth Avenue to witness the U.S. debut of the 2012 Fiat 500 by Gucci. The limited-edition model represents the perfect combination of craftsmanship and style and brings together two of Italy’s most respected brands. In the year that sees the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy and Gucci’s 90th anniversary, these special editions of the iconic Fiat 500 and 500 Cabrio were customized by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini in partnership with FIAT’s Centro Stile.

“In the ‘50s, the Fiat 500 created a style revolution when it first hit the road. It quickly became the must-have car of its time. Travelling in style has also been at the heart of Gucci ever since Guccio Gucci founded his company as a producer of leather trunks, suitcases and handbags in 1921. So, when Lapo Elkann suggested the idea of this collaboration, it struck me as a perfect opportunity to create a new, modern travel statement in Gucci’s 90th anniversary year,” said Frida Giannini.

“With Gucci as our design partner, we’ve amplified the Italian style of our Fiat 500 with unique exterior and interior looks that will make the car truly unique on the road,” said Laura Soave, Head of FIAT Brand North America. “This special edition adds dimension to the Fiat 500 portfolio and will appeal to North American customers who appreciate Italian style just as much as modern technology, value and fuel efficiency.”

Inspired by neo-classical black-and-white films, the new Black and White Fiat 500 and 500c by Gucci models are finished in unique eye-catching pearl-gloss paint. The Black model, with detailing in polished chrome paired with an interior that contrasts sharp black against white, presents a contemporary and racy attitude. The White model, with satin chrome detailing and an ivory and black interior palette, offers a softer, sophisticated look.

The 2012 Fiat 500 by Gucci models will be available exclusively at FIAT Studios nationwide as of December 2011. For more information, visit www.fiatusa.com/gucci.

Completing the customization is the exclusive “500 by Gucci” collection, including travel and fashion accessories, apparel and small leather goods, available in select Gucci stores and online at www.gucci.com.

    About the FIAT Brand
The FIAT brand stands for discovery through passionate self-expression. It encourages people to be in charge of their lives, live confidently and celebrate the smallest of things with infectious excitement. That philosophy is embodied by the North American introduction of the iconic Fiat 500 or Cinquecento – a small car that lives big. Italian at heart and rooted in a rich heritage, the 500 is synonymous with modern simple design blending form, function and a pride of ownership that is genuine.

Reminiscent of the original Cinquecento, the 2012 Fiat 500 and Fiat 500c (Cabrio) build on the vehicle’s global popularity. Since its initial launch in 2007, more than 500,000 Fiat 500 vehicles have been sold in more than 80 countries around the world. The model’s unquestionable popularity is the result of the Fiat 500’s great ability to deliver unmatched personalization options with advanced solutions in terms of quality, engine and passenger comfort. In addition to success on the sales front, the Fiat 500 has earned more than 60 international awards, including being named the 2008 European Car of the Year, 2009 World Car Design of the Year and Best New Engine of 2010 (FIAT MultiAir® Turbo).
